                  Mission Statement:

Mission Statement

Vox Feminarum is committed to creating a global platform that elevates the work of women composers, offering them the recognition they deserve in classical music. We aim to foster opportunities for established and emerging women composers, building bridges between different musical traditions and cultures. Our mission is to promote equality in the industry by curating performances, competitions, and collaborative projects that connect these groundbreaking artists with new audiences. Through our work, we aspire to inspire the next generation of composers while providing meaningful opportunities for women to shape the future of classical music.

                  Vision Statement

At Vox Feminarum, we envision a world where women composers' contributions are recognized and equally celebrated on the global stage. To help achieve this, we will host three core annual events:

1) The Women in Classical Music Award Ceremony, rotating between New York City, Vienna, and Paris, to honor women composers who have made exceptional contributions.

2) The Emerging Composers Competition in these same cities aims to identify and promote the next generation of female talents.

3) An elegant Masquerade Opera Ball in New York City, a celebration of art and music reminiscent of the grandeur of the Viennese Ball, designed to bring together patrons and musicians in support of women's impact on classical music.

              Impact: The Global Stage Initiative

As part of our commitment to fostering cultural exchange and musical innovation, we have introduced The Global Stage Initiative, a large-scale festival dedicated to music as a force for global change. This initiative unites top elite music schools worldwide, inviting students from each institution to compose and perform ethnic music that reflects their cultural heritage.

Inspired by Coachella, this international festival will celebrate diversity in sound, highlighting the richness of global musical traditions while encouraging cross-cultural collaboration. The Global Stage Initiative welcomes participants of all gender identities, ensuring that classical music remains an inclusive and dynamic space where artistry transcends borders. By bringing together different musical voices on one stage, we strive to break stereotypes, expand representation, and reshape the narrative of classical music for future generations.

Helen Grime: Violin Concerto (2015/16)

Helen Grime (*1981) Violin Concerto (2015/16) 00:00 I. 10:20 II. 18:13 III. Malin Broman, violin Sveriges Radios Symfoniorkester Daniel Harding, conductor World Première, 15 December 2016, Berwaldhallen My Violin Concerto came about after several collaborations with Malin Broman and many years of gestation. We first worked together with Malin’s piano trio (Kungsbacka Trio) but I also had chance to work with the orchestra, conducted by Daniel Harding with Malin leading, in 2010. I was immediately struck by the ferocity, power and passion in her playing. At turns she is able to play with a sort of wild abandon but also with great tenderness, sensitivity and with many different colours. I knew when we started talking about the piece some years back, that I wanted to highlight and showcase these striking, opposing qualities. Violent, virtuosic music covering the whole range of the violin is contrasted with more delicate and reflective filigree material that features oscillating natural harmonic passages and searching melodies. Towards the beginning of the writing process, I sent Malin various fragments of material and many of these are used in the concerto. These initial sketches actually became the basis for the piece’s central section and everything else sprung from this. In one continuous movement, the piece falls into three main sections but features extensive dreamlike interlinking passages that connect them.
